How to Write Faceless Video Scripts That Keep Viewers Watching
A repeatable scripting framework for hooks, retention, and pacing — so your faceless videos hold attention to the end.

On a faceless channel, your script is the show. There’s no on-camera presence to carry a weak idea — every second of retention is earned by the words and pacing. Here’s the framework I use to keep viewers watching to the end.
Open With a Hook
The first fifteen seconds decide whether someone stays. Lead with a bold claim, a surprising fact, or the exact payoff the viewer came for. Never open with a slow introduction or a logo animation.
Structure for Retention
Break the video into clear segments, each answering one question and teasing the next. Use open loops — promise something later in the video — so viewers always have a reason to keep watching.
Write for the Ear
Scripts are spoken, not read. Use short sentences, plain words, and a conversational rhythm. Read every draft out loud and cut anything that makes you stumble.
End With Momentum
Close by delivering on your promise and pointing viewers to the next video. A strong ending boosts session time, which the algorithm rewards with more reach.
